Descriptive Feature

Towering 20 feet in the air, the mosaic statue of Olympian, Tommie Smith and John Carlos stands proudly on San Jose State University's campus acknowledging a significant time in history.
The statues are made out of blue hexagon shaped textile and cement.
Standing barefoot, both statues have puma shoes next to their feet which supposedly represented the black panther movement at the time.
The shoes are hollow and made out of metal.
Both Smith and Carlos's sweat pants are rolled up showing their black socks.

Smith's statue is chipped in the back on the left pant toward the bottom.

Smith's jacket is zipped up and Carlos's is unzipped showing his t-shirt and a yellow, green and red necklace on his neck.
Their arms and faces are made out of metal.
Both Smith and Carlos have their eyes open, facial hair and are looking down toward the ground.

Both have serious facial expressions.

Smith is holding a plaque with an olive branch painted on it in his left hand and his right arm is straight up in the air in a fist.

Carlos has his left hand behind his back with his thumb up and his right arm straight up in the air in a fist.
The podium they are standing on is made out of solid cement.

The numbers on the bottom of the podium are made out of black mosaic textile.

Under 1st place are the Olympic rings made out of colored mosaic textile.
