San Jose State’s Student Union will be completed March 2014 due to architectural delays.
Problems with water leakage have delayed the construction two months.
Cathi Busalacchi, executive director of Student Union Inc. said, “When we were drilling for a
service elevator on the left side it actually, the aquifer, the water came up and they had to plug it up two or three times.”
A different route was found for the elevator, and work is making its way back on track.
Students on campus have mixed feelings about the entirety of this project.
Liza Garcia, an advertising and graphic design major said, “I don’t like the fact that the school is using my money to build this when I won’t even be here when it’s completed; it’s a complete waste of my money personally.”
Many students like Garcia, are not happy with the construction that is going on with the Student Union.
Jessica Marquez, a third year undergraduate student said, “I’m glad that the Student Union is
being renovated and expanded. It also gives me something to look at when I pass by.”
Others are glad to see that San Jose State is putting its money back into the school, even
though it will take longer than expected.
